Walsh is part of Leadership Howard County’s 2015 Premier Class of Senior-Level Leaders
July 13, 2015, Columbia, MD – impactHR, LLC, a full-service human resources management and consulting firm, today announced its Senior Consultant, Karen Walsh, recently graduated from Leadership Howard County, MD’s (LHC) 2015 Premier Class.
Since 1986, LHC has played a key role in preparing and inspiring senior-level leaders in Howard County. Each year (September-June), LHC selects a class of leaders who undertake LHC’s 10-month tuition-based program.
Selected leaders – representing the county’s array of corporations, small businesses, government, community associations, nonprofits and faith communities – are immersed in programs focusing on leadership skill development, insights into critical issues facing the community, and education regarding how business, government and nonprofits can collaborate to strengthen Howard County.
“We couldn’t be more proud of Karen for her graduation from Leadership Howard County,” said Kelly Mitchell, Principal of impactHR, LLC. “Karen brings the same high level of devotion to our company’s clients and their human resources needs that she brings to our community. She’ll be an outstanding member of LHC’s 2015 class as well as a key leader for our county and its future.”
As a critical part of her LHC experience, Walsh will continue working on her required “Community Impact Project” – a team effort underway to tie the upcoming launch of the Maryland Chapter of Conscious Capitalism with Columbia’s 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2017.
LHC builds two classes each of year comprised of senior-level leaders and for professionals under 40. Participants are required to immerse themselves in community programs, and to work in small learning groups to study policy issues affecting Howard County citizens. Through these active projects, participants enhance their leadership insights and learn how to effect real change.
Walsh has more than 20 years of experience as an HR professional and consultant, specializing in HR compliance, compensation, employee relations, benefits, training, recruiting, on-boarding and off-boarding. Prior to joining impactHR, Walsh was the principal of a boutique HR consulting firm providing broad HR support to a variety of companies. She also held numerous HR roles as a senior staff member, practitioner and consultant. Walsh has worked in the financial, nonprofit and technology sectors and has significant experience working with government contractors.
