The HIRE Act – What Does it Mean?
On March 18, 2010, President Obama signed the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment Act or the HIRE Act (aka the “jobs bill”) into law to help reinvigorate the workforce.
Employers pay one-half of an employee’s Social Security tax, which is 6.2%. However, under the HIRE Act, the 6.2% employer portion of the Social Security tax would be exempt.
